Ruth started making art in her 30’s. She began taking adult education watercolor classes. She fell in love with making art. Then Ruth began taking  private lessons in acrylic and making art became more and more of a passion, she decided she wanted to study it seriously. So she got a portfolio together and applied to the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts and was accepted.

Ruth graduated the Museum School of Fine Arts after 15 years of going part time. She focused on printmaking and painting. She discovered working in layers. She states “What fascinated me was that each layer gave a history to the work and the finished work told a story.”

Later she attended Northeastern university and was awarded a Master’s Certificate in digital photography. She began experimenting with many mediums often combining mediums. She feels that using layers in her work is the best way to express herself.

Ruth’s first career  was as a psychiatric nurse practitioner where she learned the importance of telling stories and that is what her art does. She lived much of her life in Boston but has now moved to Florida. She continues to love art making and plans to continue the story.
